Bath in Wood of Maine designs and handcrafts wooden bathtubs for residential and hospitality settings where material choices and proportion are integral to the overall design. Using fine hardwoods in all their natural variation, we design bathtubs with the same care given to fine furniture. Flowing lines, thoughtful contrasts and tactile comfort come together to create a piece that belongs to your home and feels unmistakably your own.
Every bathtub is made to order in our Swans Island, Maine workshop, allowing for direct collaboration and a measured, detail-driven approach from initial design through fabrication.
JAPANESE OFURO
Our Ofuro design is based on the classic Japanese “Sukiya” architectural style. The shape lends itself to our signature contrast treatment in which two distinctive species of wood are incorporated into the design providing exciting creative opportunities.

Ritz Carlton Reserve - Costa Rica
Opened in 2025, this landmark hotel is located on the Nekajui Papagayo Peninsula in Costa Rica. The architecture and interiors called for a thoughtful response to the surrounding landscape. We were commissioned to design and build custom wooden bathtubs for both the spa and the hotel’s luxurious tented accommodations—distinct designs, unified by material, craft and setting. Working closely with the project team, we translated their concepts into pieces that align seamlessly with the spirit of this extraordinary place.
