ABOUT BATH IN WOOD OF MAINE
Bath in Wood of Maine owners Steve and Miranda Batiste used to live in a beautiful, old house in Vermont with an ancient claw foot, cast iron tub. Cast iron is what radiators are made of because it radiates heat so effectively and this tub was no exception — which meant that in winter the water became very chilly very quickly.
Being passionate about wooden boats led the two to speculate that a tub built of solid hardwood, which is an excellent insulator, would retain heat while also being every bit as beautiful as their old claw foot. Modern boatbuilding technique provided them with glued joints stronger than the material itself as well as a really tough finish, et voila!
Today the Batistes own and operate Bath in Wood of Maine from their workshop on Swans Island.
